Teresa, Rove Operative?
Kate O'Beirne, a writer for the conservative National Review, remembers this encounter with Teresa Heinz Kerry:
At a Washington party in 2001, Teresa Heinz (then) greeted me enthusiastically with the charming pronouncement, "I agree with everything you say on TV. I'm a Republican and you're my favorite." Her husband, John Kerry, stood uncomfortably at her side, which he was no doubt used to doing by then.
In light of this, might we begin to wonder whether Rove is behind the spate of embarrasments for the Kerry campaign:and the latest foot-in-mouth experience:
- On a slow pass through Arizona last night, Teresa took the microphone and said, "Hello, Nevada!" Kerry leaned into his fatigued wife quickly and said, "Arizona." "Oh, Arizona!" she replied. "We're in Arizona. We're still in Arizona. and we are going to Nevada.
I'm on to you, Rove! Memo to Kerry campaign: You have a mole!
